Keep MN Green

Join the library in our effort to reduce MN's carbon hoof print!  We are looking forward to a year with numerous activities designed to heighten our environmental awareness and what Mavericks can to help our planet stay green.

Some of our plans include:

  • Read it Forward,  "Our planet: change is possible"
  • showing films after school such as The Cove
  • panel discussion featuring local professionals who have green jobs, Spring 2010
  • school-wide reduction of our trash
  • vintage fashion show sponsored by Room Service Vintage - Nov. 11th  - Austin Vintage Shop Flyer Stay tuned for more info.  In the meantime, checkout the websites on the right to find out how to be green.

One man's trash An East Texan builds homes out of recycled materials.

No impact man In November of 2006, Colin Beavan, embarked on a yearlong “lifestyle experiment” in which he vowed to reduce his planetary impact by producing (nearly) no trash, using (hardly) any carbon fuel and buying almost nothing new except food, and only that grown within a 250-mile radius of his home in New York City.
